The Rain

I wake in the morning, it’s another dull day,
The rain out the window has come here to stay.
I go for a drive, the traffic crawls by,
My life on a one-way street to the sky.

Why’s it so hard to live day by day?
There’s light and there’s darkness,
But everything’s gray.
I play with the shadows that dance on the wall,
Trapped in clichés, I stand then I fall.

I look at my life and I don’t understand.
Why am I here? By choice or command?
My mind’s in a mess, my soul drowns in pain,
And all I can see outside is the rain.
