How long can you dream
Before you must bend,
How long ’til your mind
Will first comprehend,
Your head in the clouds,
It doesn’t belong,
Reality’s call is
Sometimes too strong.
A dream cannot pay
For food or the rent
If it doesn’t have
The will to consent
Every drop of your blood,
Sweat, toil, and tears,
The strength to move on
In spite of your fears;
But if you press on
And won’t be denied,
Dreams and reality
Soon will collide.
Upon reading your post, I realized that I can compose poems by describing things surrounded me; living and non-living things, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s tangible and my heart and soul can reach it. Very inspiring and thanks š
I am very happy that my poem was able to inspire you! Yes, you said it beautifully, as long as you can feel it in your heart and soul, you will be able to create and connect with your words. š
