What the Light Hunts

It’s not the rain I fear,
Nor is it murky night,
The things I dread the most
Are bouncing rays of light.
They hunt me while I stalk,
The shadows I reside,
I stalk you silently
With every step and stride.

I roam the sleeping world,
The master of this realm,
But sun will make me flee
As it would overwhelm;
We cannot coexist
Together in one place,
The darkness that I am
Is easy to displace.

  1. Love this. Very dark, I can feel the chill of the shadow down my spine…

    1. As long as you didn’t come to the conclusion that it was a vampire, although I would completely understand if you did, I’m happy. πŸ™‚

      1. No, not at all. Far more complex than that.

  2. Darkness. Like a security blanket, it makes one to feel safe. My take, to be sure, as I most enjoy the world when the Sun goes down.

Talk about epic. Very awesome piece, Cubby!

    1. Yeah, I like the darkness also, but not right after I’ve seen a scary movie. Glad you liked it! πŸ™‚

  3. I always sleep with the lamp on. If the bulb blows when I’m asleep I end up having nightmares.

    1. A lamp of lavaliciousness, I suppose.

      1. No, just the usual bedside lamp…more often than not with a dead crane fly in it.

  4. Okay serious first …love this one! I sleep with a huge spot light on. My house is surrounded by wood and we got monsters.

    1. That creeps me out. I understand the reason for the clown suit now…to scare away the monsters. πŸ˜›

      1. You are so good at figuring my secrets out!

        1. I just connect the dots. πŸ˜‰

  5. Great words, I sleep with a night light handy and a night light in the lounge. Its dark and eerie in the country where I live

    1. That sounds really creepy…I think I would need flood lights in that case.
