To Catch a Rhyme

To catch a rhyme you have to hunt,
Such tricky creatures that they be;
They tend to lurk in front of you
But camouflaged so you can’t see.

Just pen and paper aren’t enough,
The greatest weapon is your wit,
So lay your traps out one by one
And wait, when baited, they’ll submit.

  1. I will have to try this rhyme trapping! Sounds like a good idea!

    1. You do it all the time, and quite well might I add! πŸ™‚

  2. The way to catch a rhyme, I’ve found,
    Is dangle prepositions round
It’s hole. And when the lights are dim
You thwack it with a synonym.

    1. But synonyms don’t do the trick,
Like kangaroos they like to kick,
And have you ever felt them punch?
That’s when I feel a tooth go crunch.

      1. If a synonym’s too damp and porous,
Twat it with a whole thesaurus.

    2. You thwack it here, you thwack it there,
      But soon you’re thwacking everywhere,
With lights so dim it’s hard to tread,
Your synonyms will all be dead.
