I see the stars swim in your eyes,
Not in their sparkling-splendored grace,
But ancient wisdom shining through
Pools of compassion that displace
Distrust and anger with a glow
That penetrates my pyrite heart
And melts it into liquid gold
So fool and I can finally part.
I see the stars swim in your eyes,

I love this one! The point at which infatuation becomes love and the barriers come down….and I love the way you snuck geology in !
Glad you liked the geology reference! 🙂
Wonderful and… “penetrates my pyrite heart… And melts it into liquid gold… So fool and I can finally part” – very clever. I love this.
Thank you very kindly! 🙂
Very thought provoking
Thanks Barb. 🙂
Wonderfull, I love the way your rhyming flows to invade the readers heart and teach it.
Ah, that’s a beautiful compliment…thank you Oloriel. 🙂
I love this as it reminds me how often in my life this has happened to me. It is a special person who can with one look dispel all our anger and melt our heart.
Yes, these people are very special. 🙂
You’ve surrendered to compassion and wisdom…doesn’t seem romatic love to me, seems deeper and fool is past experience? Like how the poem flows and it gives me a feeling of something beautiful and opening and growth.
Ah…didn’t take into consideration your title! So the fool is the ever wary heart! Hmmm…I must be sleeping on my feet.
My feet fall asleep all the time. The fool is the part of you that clings to the past and is afraid to trust because of its experiences, like you stated in your first comment and here again in “the ever wary heart”. It does not have to be about romantic love, although it is most easily construed that way. 🙂
romantic hearts look for what they seek…ah…sleeping feet are a common problem then…what bother’s me is when my brain doesn’t wake up. Then I need crocodile rhymes.
Reptiles are funny creatures. They creep me out and fascinate me at the same time.
🙂 must agree.
The only thing I can see in my eyes this morning are floaters…
Ah, that doesn’t sound too good. Hope it isn’t too much of a nuisance.
Another lovely poem.
Thank you gigi. 🙂
If your heart melts I must leave because I am allergic to sulfur and I might get hives or swell up or some thing worse like EXPLODE!
I think it would be okay, being contained within the body. You have no problems in your work environment with allergies?
No none so far….not much sulfur there! But I am going gray and I cannot used hair dye of any kind it all contains sulfur. I will be salt and peppah!
nicely done!!! 🙂
Many thanks. 🙂
This is beautiful, Cubby. Sounds like growth.x

Ah, sweet surrender, to lay down the foolish weapons and to give and be taken fully! Beautifully penned, elegantly lean yet rich and replete with that secret inner knowledge that only experience can provide. Thanks for sharing!
