Galactic Mother

Our galaxy’s a mother
Who nurses all her young.
Her milk will always flow
For every hungry tongue
That suckles greedily,
The planets that adorn
The bosom of her space,
Like kittens newly born.

  1. Did Cubby write this wonderful poem? “Like kittens newly born,” is there a more wonderful thing than that?

    1. How did you know?! Cubby has a soft spot when it comes to kittens. Purrr.

  2. Gorgeous and gentle, loved it!

    1. Aw, you are too kind. πŸ™‚

  3. Wow, you’re an absolutely amazing writer. You take such serious and philosophical topics and write cute and enlightening poems about them. Your poems have a shel Silverstein (my favorite poet) feel to them. Keep it up, cubby, you’ll go far.

    1. Thank you so very much for your comment. I am overwhelmed by your kindness. Your words mean so much to me as they help motivate and keep me excited about writing things that I hope others will enjoy. πŸ™‚

  4. Such an enlightening piece of poetry

    1. The kittens most likely played a role. πŸ™‚

  5. That is a lovely poem Cubby, absoultely adored the image of planet kitties! You’ve got your head on straight that’s for sure, as Sekhmet would say. πŸ˜‰

  6. Boy, this sure started a whole set of mental images in motion…..a little scarey!

    1. Hehe hopefully not scary mental images. πŸ™‚

  7. Very Nice Poem.

  8. Wow! Your use of analogy (or maybe it’s metaphor?? I’m not sure – the way you connect the galaxy and mothering) here, is simply wonderful! I love this piece.

    1. It’s safe to say that it’s a metaphor as it directly compares our galaxy to being a mother, but I have no idea what the difference is between an analogy and an extended metaphor…hurts my head to think about. πŸ˜›

      1. It hurts my head too, lol – glad I’m not alone πŸ˜€
