So Long

You question why I do not say
The words you long to hear:
Three little words, I find so hard
To speak them yet, I fear.

It’s been so long and I’m afraid
To let my feelings show,
But while you sleep, I whisper them
So all your dreams may know.

  4. Right to the heart…so a bit of chocolate is merited here! Besides, they say chocolate helps overcome shyness and reinforces dream voices. Thanks for the loving poem!

    1. The only bad thing about virtual chocolate is all the drool marks it leaves on my keyboard…but it is so sweet. You feed me too well! 🙂

  5. Beautiful and touching!

  9. short and sweet! never had this particular fear, in fact hubby said I said it too easily and too often. He was always one to SHOW and not say it. After 45 years, I’ve come to appreciate that.

    1. Yes, everyone has different ways of expressing their love, and showing is definitely one that we all have to watch out for as it can be very subtle sometimes. 🙂

  10. Nice, I was going to say beautiful but too many people have used that word. Very nice…and beautiful.

  11. Holding back and letting go…in whispers.

    1. Yeah, I don’t know why, but I have a thing about whispers. I think it may be partly because they remind me of whiskers. Whiskers whispering wistfully. 🙂

  12. Beautiful….I whisper them into the wind, hoping they will be delivered.

    1. Ah, yes, we all hope our messages will be delivered in some way or another. 🙂

  16. I like how it says a lot in just a few words.

  31. Lovely poem and can relate with the sentiments expressed. Thank you Sonia for stopping by my blog and liking my poem. 🙂 🙂 Honestly this is the first time I’m trying my had at writing poetry, so it definitely feels good if someone likes it. 🙂 🙂

    1. It always feels good to know that someone can relate to and/or appreciate the words you have to offer them. I hope you continue to write more poetry. Thank you for your lovely comments. 🙂

  32. So lovely and bittersweet but redeeming by way of dreams 🙂

    1. Ah, if only everything could be redeemed that way. 🙂

  34. This resonates with me, Cubby.

    1. I hope you were able to move past the whispers. 🙂

  35. I did this just last week! Late at night, I could hear the deep, slow breathing as I snuggled up nice and close. Then I whispered those three scary words… all my dog did was roll over and lick me! He’s such a romantic 😛

Another magical tale, Miss Cubby. Even though I only began reading your blog tonight, I want to say… keep them coming!

    1. Rofl your dog sounds like he returns your affections. 🙂

  36. This, not your beautiful poetry per se, but the effect it induces in the reader’s mind and soul, is, to me, what poetry is all about.

    1. Yes, I agree wholeheartedly with your take on poetry, about it being the impact and not the words themselves necessarily. Thank you so much for your lovely thoughts. 🙂
