Cacophony in the background,
Noises buzzing all around,
So persistent,
So insistent,
Constantly a droning sound.
Puzzled looking,
Hands are waving,
Asking me if I’m okay.
Dragged back to reality
I ask, “Huh? What did you just say?”
Poetry that purrs. It's reowr because the cat said so.

Scary experience nicely expressed
Physically, perhaps, more so than mentally. π
That’s how I feel in class sometimes…
Lol π
Oh my…whatever was the matter, hope it’s moved on! That is one place I’ve visited that I’m happy to not to visit again.
Physically I am fine. Mental lapses, however, happen more than I would like. π
So then this is not related to the problems you wrote of a while back? Good idea to work out the anxiety though with your poetry.
No, this was not intended to be related to health problems, although I can see how it can be interpreted that way…in hindsight. π
Ah…ok…glad to hear that. I do have my moments of “going off” in fact I put on my desktop this quote: Warning: writers will escape into their own world at any given time without warning. π
hmm

looks
like
you’re okay
Yes, it does look like I’m okay. π
Totes relatable. Nice poem, Cubby!
Hehe thanks JashaΓ©l! π
A great poem! =]
Glad you think so! π

This is an awesome poem!
Scary, Cubby, although beautifully said…hope you’re ok…
Yes, I’m fine. It was more of a mental lapse than a physical lapse. π
Sounds like what happened to me at a rock concert many years back.
“Cacophony”. Now there’s a new word for me.
enjoyed your poem, Cubby. Have a wonderful day.
I love the word cacophony. It’s hard to say nonchalantly in conversation though without sounding pretentious lol, although it does depend on who you are speaking to. So glad you enjoyed this! π
Sensory overload I call it. Me at the end of a school day before I can even face sound again. Tune out, go to a happy place. Nicely put. ‘Huh?’ Great title too. :)x
Yes, tuning out and going to a happy place can be such a nice little retreat. π
So weird how it can happen like that, on occasion even painful. Your words paint a perfect picture.
What my words paint are interpreted in wondrous ways by my readers. π
I love the fact that you are happy, because your readers interpret your poems in their own way! You receive joy and unselfishly give this gift, not demanding others to interpret your way. A true artist! (Not sure I stated this exactly how I wanted, but I hope my words comes across).
Lol well, I don’t know how I would feel if I was trying to describe an elephant and everyone thought I was describing a monkey, but we’ll cross that bridge when it comes. π
I feel this π
Hopefully not in a bad way! π
In a very good way of course π
Another beautiful poem of you. I like the ending: ” “Huh? What did you just say?” It has such a powerful punch to it. Well done friend…
Thank you kindly. I’m glad you liked the ending. π
This could be seen in two ways…that the author had effectively retreated from the chaos, finding a quiet (mental) room…or the author is having a medical emergency. Unique subject matter either way, and you have turned it into an equally unique, well-written poem!
I always find it fascinating when others discover more interpretations to my poems than I realized. The first interpretation that you mentioned was the one I had in mind. The second is frankly quite scary, and I feel bad that anyone would relate to the poem in that way. But such is the influence of experience on perception and interpretation. π
Reblogged this on Brenna's Beans.
Hope the moment was short lived and unrepeating!
In terms of a physical lapse, probably yes; in terms of a mental lapse, probably no. π
I do love your poetry, succinct.
Thank you so much. I am so happy to hear that. π
You’re very welcome!
I like this one–I think many of us can relate to that discombobulating feeling!
Apparently in more ways than I expected! And I love that word…discombobulated. It reminds me of a bobble head bouncing all over the place. π
Now we just need to use it in a poem! π
I did, once, and it was ugly lol. π
Been there!
I hear ya!
LOL Were you bored or writing poetry in your head? You always make me want to write something so I’m off to do that now.
Um, yes, but I think I worried a few people into thinking I had a medical emergency. π¦
Good One! I loved it!
Hehe thank you. So glad you enjoyed it. π
Zing!
Ching!
Excellent poem and very insightful Cubby x
Many thanks. I’m glad you thought so. π
Very relatable. Very well expressed.
Thank you very kindly. π
This happens to be often… but I can’t help it if the muse has something more interesting to say than the person in front of me droning on about inconsequential things. π
*To ME often
Yes, it really can’t be helped in those cases, can it. π
Lol!
π
I was scared for a minute, hoping you’re okay. I do remember the experience from school daze….
Aw, my apologies, I didn’t mean to scare you. School daze hehe π
Nice! Maybe I should write about my staring-into-space-not-hearing-a-sound moments too!
Lol why not? π
Been there, done that. People have a knack for interrupting my thoughts at the most inconvenient moments.
Lol exactly. π
To get away without a getaway, nice! (except for the interruptions)
Lol yes, except for the interruptions. π
don’t you just hate that, when they drag you back before you’re ready? lol nice one!!!
Hehe yup! I should wear a sign around my neck that says, Do Not Disturb. π
It’s a blur.
Yes it is! π
