Not goodbye, no, not goodbye,
Instead, I’ll say farewell,
For I will meet you once again
In heaven or in hell.
If heaven be our meeting place,
Let all the angels sing!
And we will live within the glow
Of everlasting spring.
If not in heaven but in hell
We meet one day below,
Then I will cry for joy because
My heaven’s where you go.
So not goodbye, no, not goodbye,
Instead, I fare thee well,
For I will meet you once again
In heaven, not in hell.
Inspired by Pooky’s poem, Not Goodbye. Thank you so much for the inspiration, Pooky! π
WOW! Wonderful!!! π π
Wow, thank you so much! Pooky should get a lot of the credit as her poem was my inspiration. π
Thanks – went and checked it out – lovely tribute too!! π
Beautiful…such a connection we can feel in this poem.
Many kind thanks for your lovely comment. π
Wonderful…true friendship that can make even hell paradise because of the friends presence…loved it!
I think true love can transform any hell into a paradise. π
Yes, I think I can agree with that! π
A great affirmation of friendship Cubby, so beautifully expressed.
Thank you so much for your kind words. π
Cubby – As always a lovely poem. Tell me what was in your mind when you wrote this – what was your inspiration/motivation?
Ah, I thought I included that at the bottom, but it got lost in one of my revisions/cutting/pasting. It was inspired by Pooky’s poem, Not Goodbye. After reading it, I could not get the words “not goodbye” out of my head, and this is the poem that resulted from it. π
God bless you Cubby and your Great Grandpa Geoff (my Grandfather was called Geoff too – now our cat is named after him :/). Beautiful poems and lovely tributes π
Hehe that would be Pooky’s great grandpa Geoff. Geoff is such a lovely name. π
You. Are. So. Punchable, Cubby.
My reaction after reading [the last phrase]: *sighs* GAH.
Be happy that you’re a cat.
I don’t punch cats.
Just adorable people, who writes adorable poetry.
(I hear them people scamper away from moi.
Haha…)
I’m hyper today.
Okay, I say goodbye now.
Thanks for the poem!
*borrows line from Cubby*
Reowr!
Lol I’m happy to hear you don’t go around punching cats. I would be frankly worried if you did. It’s a good thing I am a cat and not an adorable person! Meow! π
Wow, Cubby as always I love this piece especially the 1st and last stanzas..
I’m so happy you especially enjoyed the cookie part of my Oreo! π
lovely poem π
Thank you so much! π
you’re welcome
That is really sweet… you have a musical way of putting words together, giving them a sing-song quality. π
I think that is why songs often have rhyming in their lyrics. I’m so glad you enjoyed this. π
This is so thought provoking..on so many levels. Thank you for sharing it… (thanks to Pooky too!!) π
And thank you for reading it! π
You’re welcome C!! π
π Happy to have inspired this beautiful poem from Cubby. x
I will have to ‘check’ you out Pooky!! π
You provided some solid inspiration π
Well I think it’s fair to say my words inspired far greater words. I love Cubby’s poem (but then I love all of them).
Haha, I cannot agree with you more- I thoroughly enjoy Cubby’s writing too π
Reblogged this on The Iridescent Bubble.
Beautiful, wonderfull, compassionate and wise, I loved the way in which every word was flowing.
Thank you so much for your lovely thoughts, Oloriel. π
This is fabulous Cubby. I’m glad that my brief outpouring was inspiration for something far more beautiful x
Nay, your words are just as beautiful to me. π
bless you x
This is amazing:)
You are too kind. π
π
The thoughts, very touching and the words kind. Beautiful…now I ‘m going to visit Pooky’s blog:). Love her name (my daughters bunny was called Ms. Pooky), I think we’ll get on famously…
I’m glad you enjoyed this. Thank you for visiting Pooky’s blog as well. π
It seems Cubby sent rather a few folk my way which is very kind and hugely appreciated as I only just started. Thanks for coming by and commenting.
Oh and I am named after a rabbit! My mum enjoyed the Pookie books by Ivy Wallace as a child – Pookie was a flying rabbit and I’m named after him.
Brilliant.
This poem belongs in heaven, not in hell.
Aw, that is so sweet. Thank you so much. π
“For I will meet you again
“In heaven,not hell”!
What a beautiful place to meet. So so emotional as though it’s personal. But yet aren’t all poems a personal story, friend????
Yes, all poems are personal in one way or another. π
another wonderful poem, with a little bit of π and a little bit of π¦ thank you Cubby
Lol you sure know how to work those faces! Many kind thanks. π
‘My heaven’s where you go.’ lovely thought. Beautiful poem.
Thank you so much. π
I love this. And it’s so true. I don’t care where I am, heaven, hell or somewhere in between, as long as I’m with him again…that place will be heaven. You said what was in my heart. Thank you.
I am so glad I was able to express what was in your heart. Thank you so much for your lovely thoughts. π

You deserve it! Much love
Thank you so much for the consideration. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. π
Really like this. Don’t you say goodbye or farewell, too soon.
No, not too soon, I hope. Glad you liked it. π
π
This is superb, Cubby! I love how the last stanza brings the entire poem together so well.
I’m so glad you think so, Miranda! Purrrrr. π
Heaven is our ultimate home, Sonya! π
Very well said! π
My mother and father were married nearly 46 years before she passed from emphysema. For 21 years my dad kept hoping he’d see her when he died. I’d like to think he did.
I am glad that they were able to spend at least almost 46 years together. I think he is with her now and happy. π
Sweet and tender just like you! π Beautifully done!
Aw, what a lovely comment. Thank you so much. π
Simply lovely, Sonya. What more can I say?
Your words warm my heart. Thank you very kindly. π
You’re welcome and thanks for your visits and encouragement.
π
Where love abides. Heaven. So delightfully expressed. *sigh* x
