Dreams like water-colored paintings
Wash away when days are raining
Please help me finish this poem. It doesn’t have to rhyme, and I will add your entry to this post with your blog link and avatar name. Of course, you can post my two lines with your poem on your blog as well.
And just to make it more of a challenge, try to keep your entry under 12 lines.
If you like an entry, please like it on the writer’s blog as well. If there are writers who don’t have their entries posted on their blog, please check out some of their other posts.
I look forward to reading all of your wonderful responses! 🙂

Dreams like water-colored paintings
Wash away when days are raining
A blurry memory
of anything and everything
Leaving a washed out grey
defining the rest of the day

Wash away when days are raining
They slip away when I try and touch them

Dreams like watercolored paintings
Wash away when days are rainy
With every drop of rain they fade
With every cloud that now turns grey
Slipping slowly from your mind
With every second of passing time
As you wake they drift away
And leave you to dream another day

Dreams like water-colored paintings
Wash away when days are raining
Puddle at the base of my brain,
Diluted in the acid rain.
I watch as heavy skies are greying,
Try to capture thoughts gone straying,
But, like fish, they swim away
And join their brethren in the bay.

Dreams like water colored paintings
Wash away when days are raining
Dreams and dreams of great things
Slide away and the heart’s left paining
Dreams of having wings
And I’m still waiting
Yes! Weak dreams mine mind still sings
Dreams of tomorrow and I’m still aging
Leave holes in my heart which stings
Someday I’ll be great, I’m left saying
Dreams like water colored paintings
That wash away when days are raining

Wash away when days are raining
And as when the rain has passed
A rainbow arcs the sky
Water-colored dreams now painted inside my heart
An arcing rainbow
A sign of hope

Dreaming Rain
Dreams like water-coloured paintings
Wash away when days are raining
As colours fade dreams transition
to emerge an act of fission
heart unwinds a trellis it makes
flowers grow laughter belly aches
Criss cross around the globe so near
waves of intention ever clear
Rain dissolves a thread of intent
pastels and pinks our hearts content

Washed Away
Dreams like water-colored paintings
Wash away when days are raining,
Rainbow swirls and fading lines
Are the only artifacts remaining,
The pitter-patter of raindrops
Match my sullen heart,
For what seemed like real possibilities
Are now but abstract art
I can no longer tell if my cheeks
Are wet from rain or my own tears,
Gone are the colors of my world
Replaced by sadness and fears.

Dreams like water-colored paintings
Wash away when days are raining
Save for the myriad reds seeping
Carving out canyons like borders
Dividing color from this slumber
Mind captive as my body tumbles
In this dream, I only see the grays
Violet spears from a clumsy brush
The room is dyed in washed indigo
Poor reflection on spidered window
As rain pours in, I begin to awaken
To my abstract reality once again

Like so many tears down the drain
But needled nightmares stain
Permanently pressed into my skin
A reminder of my every sin
You see watercolors are for the hopeful
And ink is for the woeful

I try to cling to fragments that linger

Here’s the only place it’s like it was then
And I can’t stand to lose you again

Dreams like water-colored paintings
Wash away when days are raining
Unless I rise immediately
And capture them in poetry
Or in a novel plotted out
So that the dream’s fully lived out.
For when I use dreams for my muse
And extra imagination use,
I find that, if I captured well,
My dreams give products I can sell.

Aquamarine a dream missed wished to stay
My rainbow garden where my special friends play
My special space where I am me all day

Whisp a wind blows

A rainy day poem such sweet repose
Such a delight to you all a goodnight
A poets farewell I suppose

Dreams
vibrant colours bleed
spilling on green blades
sinking in the soil
vibrant colours bleed
echoing cries and screams
disappearing fears
spilling on green blades
red and green and silvery tints
like dressing up a tree
sinking in the soil
scary images traced with joy
making worms go wild

Dream Wash Multiplex
Dreams, like water-coloured paintings,
Wash away when days are raining
on one Mary Poppins pavement
on another London street,
children play sticks
along the railing
in grey sleet,
mascara eye
streak

Love the hopeful ending! Very nice. 🙂
Nice touch to his prompt!
They slip away when I try and touch them
Evade me when I try and clutch them…
Sad but too often true. Nice job! 🙂

I have missed your beautiful words and wonderful rhymes. I was hoping you would give this one a go. 🙂
You do got a nack for the poeting poet. Great way to see that.

Thank you and thank you for the inspiring prompt. 😊
It is my pleasure to read the wonderful things others can come up with from two lines.
Lots of talented and creative people .
For sure!

Thanks, Cubby! It’s a great prompt.

That was outstanding…I feel like I wrote this poem. Please read some of my work I think you will understand why. Your prose is very clean and succinct in it’s intoxicating purity in tickling my pineal gland that is a rare event- thank you

I hope you write more poetry. Such a pleasure to read. 🙂
Thank you. I used to write a lot until George Carlin told me, “More people write poetry than read poetry.”
I don’t know anyone who writes poetry in non-virtual space…but maybe that’s just my friends and family.
Dreams like water-colored paintings
Wash away when days are raining
Seems like nature has blotted out
My tears that were remaining
What a logical and natural progression to the prompt. Great job!
Thanks.. I enjoyed it.
I am happy to hear that! 😀
Here’s my take on your prompt:
Dreams like water-colored paintings
Wash away when days are raining
Unless I rise immediately
And capture them in poetry
Or in a novel plotted out
So that the dream’s fully lived out.
For when I use dreams for my muse
And extra imagination use,
I find that, if I captured well,
My dreams give products I can sell.
Love how you managed to end it on a high note. I wanted a happy ending too but just couldn’t twist it around, so I’m glad to see that you could! 🙂
Well, I’ve had an opportunity to actually experience that kind of happy ending, because I really did have two of my best novels inspired by actual dreams. So it was easy for me.
Nice

But, the puddles!
My, the puddles!
The muddled, colored, splashable puddles!
I bootbrush the pavement
with the dream-streaky puddles!
Lol that’s fantastic! I love puddles. 😀
Thanks. A little spelling error in the last line there (dream-streaky), but I’ll survive.
What error? Check again. 😉
Error? Who said anything about an error?
