I need my quiet time alone;
I know some people think it’s greed,
But what they fail to understand,
It’s something that I really need.
I can be social, quite polite,
And always have an ear to lend,
But if you try to hold too tight,
I’ll break before I truly bend.
I’m not an easy friend to have,
It’s sometimes hard to see my face,
But not because I do not care,
I simply need a lot of space.
You feel like you will never know
Just who I am, it’s hard to show,
But if you read my poetry,
You’ll fathom pieces of my soul.

I definitely relate to this. I always considered myself a loner, but I have found that to not be entirely true. I DO like and even crave interaction with people in small doses, but still feel intruded upon when I’m relaxing in MY time.
