I need my quiet time alone;
I know some people think it’s greed,
But what they fail to understand,
It’s something that I really need.
I can be social, quite polite,
And always have an ear to lend,
But if you try to hold too tight,
I’ll break before I truly bend.
I’m not an easy friend to have,
It’s sometimes hard to see my face,
But not because I do not care,
I simply need a lot of space.
You feel like you will never know
Just who I am, it’s hard to show,
But if you read my poetry,
You’ll fathom pieces of my soul.

Perfect! I wish I’d written it
Me too. Cause it’s mostly about me.
That is a wonderful compliment. Thank you.
But truthful 🙂
OMG me too.
Bra.vo. Applause infinity my friend.
Much appreciated. 🙂
I think I can fathom the feline in you! Excellent poem!
Cats seem to have it all figured out for me. 😉 Glad you enjoyed the poem! 🙂
Thank you for sharing! Have a great day. 🙂
Great way of sharing! The last line is a clincher!! 💗
Thank you kindly for your lovely words. 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog and liking my post. Your encouragement is a big boost for amateurs like me. Hope to create better posts and receive more feedback in the future.
Love this poem. The need for space is something I completely identify with. It’s unfortunate that most people consider this selfish.
Sorry about my belated response. I just fished your comment out of my spam box. I consider myself an amateur as well as there is so much to learn when it comes to writing. I hope you continue to blog and continue to write. And I agree that it is very unfortunate that so many people consider the need for space selfish.
Best of luck to you and your blog! I will definitely be visiting sometime soon. 🙂

Ok this is lit!!! Like so on point, I wish people will just stop thinking We are depressed or so we speak human language toooooo
Yeah, introverts are easily misunderstood. Our language is definitely human. 🙂
What a beautiful and relatable poem! Every word is just so accurate!
Many kind thanks. I’m glad you found my words meaningful. 🙂
Hey Cubby, thanks for checking out some recent posts. I’m glad you enjoyed them. Oh yeah, quiet time is a nice time, sometimes.
‘Twas my pleasure. And it definitely is. 🙂
Literally felt every word!! Perfectly written!
Thank you for being so kind. I’m glad you could relate. 🙂
Wow! This is beautiful, my friend. I keep reading it over and over while nodding my head.
I was hoping there would be others who could relate to this. 🙂
Yes, yes and YES!! I so relate to this poem! Are you in my mind? 🙂
Lol only if you are in mine too 🙂
I definitely relate to this. I always considered myself a loner, but I have found that to not be entirely true. I DO like and even crave interaction with people in small doses, but still feel intruded upon when I’m relaxing in MY time.
So great, perfectly true!
True for many of us, it seems. Thank you. 🙂
I’ve had an awful day, and marathoning your poetry has been exactly what I need. Thank you for writing such great poems.
I am sorry you had such a bad day. I’m glad reading my poetry can provide some comfort. I hope you have a much better day tomorrow. 🙂
