The fisherman sat on his boat
And gave a little sigh,
“Oh, where have all the fishies gone?
Come back and don’t be shy.”
The fish all burbled when they heard
The fisherman’s sad cry.
“Ha! Don’t you think that we don’t know
The reason that you try
To lure us over with your bait?”
The fisherman replied,
“Whatever reason you may think
I firmly will deny.
I’m simply trying to gather you
To show you all the sky.”
“But we can see the sky from here!”
The fish just scoffed and said.
“You mean to say we’ll see the sky
Much better when we’re dead!”
In shock at how the fishies spoke,
He felt a sense of dread.
“Perhaps it’s time I hung my pole.
A farmer, then, instead.”
But when he went to milk a cow,
Do you know what he heard?
“Go milk yourself. You stink at this.
A farmer? How absurd.”
