This is an example of what the coloring book pages will look like:I hope my book brings smiles to everyone who reads it. This book was made with really young children (2 to 5 years old) in mind, but my next books will be for slightly older kids. 🙂
That’s wonderful news Sonya congratulations truly amazing 🐺❤️🌹
Aww thank you. You make me want to write a children’s book about a beautiful white wolf. 🙂
I think that would be a beautiful story especially if it was written by you.☺️
Definitely something to think about. 🙂
☺️
Fabulous news and well done.
Thank you so much! 🙂
Congrats, this looks great!
I’m glad you think so! Thank you! 🙂
You’re welcome.
Awesome, Sonya! I am so happy for you. I hope this sells out everwhere. Where do I get an autographed copy?
Thank you so much Nobbin! I asked around to see if I could make a stamp out of one nice signature, and I was told that it wouldn’t be the same, so let me practice my autograph 1000 times before I try to autograph anything. Otherwise, you will think a child scribbled on it.
I’m pretty sure those stamps are for junk mail use only. That’s way too much practice. By 1000 you’ll be worse than when you started. I know. I can’t read my own handwriting half the time. I write everything on my computer or phone.
I still like to write some things on paper, like mini to-do lists. And by paper I mean sticky notes.
Reblogged this on NobbinBlog and commented:
Anybody with a small child in their life and believes in supporting independent artists should add this to their shopping lists.
Really great, Sonya!! Congratulations!
Thanks so much, Jordy! 🙂
Congratulations, Cubby. Cute book, and the coloring book is genius!
Thank you, soberflight! It seemed like such a shame not to turn it into a coloring book, so I did. 🙂
😃
Congrats! Looks awesome.
Many kind thanks! I’m glad you think so. 🙂
You are kindly welcome.
Wonderful! I’ll check it out! 💯🏆🤗
Lol thank you for the grade and trophy! 🙂
Awe Cub that wasn’t a grade LOL I loved it totally. Champion story teller 🙂 btw never bought a book on line. Where should I get a paperback or from what store?
You can do a pre-order from Chapters and then pick it up at the store. Otherwise, options in Canada are rather limited other than Amazon. Until bookstores feel like my book is shelf-worthy, my book will only be available online.
Ok ty. Um Cub? The snow is moving vertically here. Minus 22 wind chill. Not sure I’m going anywhere LOL 25+ km/h winds……hehe
Ouch! I suggest staying at home wrapped in a nice blanket with a cup of hot cocoa.
HOLY COW!! The snow’s dencer I can hardly see across the street OMG lol The Fir trees are swaying like crazy. They have to be 50′ tall at least cause I’m on the 6th floor and I see the tops
Oh wow! That’s crazy. Sit tight and stay snuggled up.
Can’t do much else. X your fingers the internet service isn’t effected! I LOVE MA BELL lol
I hear ya! 🙂
Did you listen to Glenn playing Ravel ? I love Ravel
Glenn is like a magician playing that piece.
I used to go to that Fran’s Restaurant late at night and imagine I might see him lol Some of the older staff remembered him. Fran’s is gone now. Pavanne is my favourite piece. I’ve been writing with Ravel in the background.
Sounds like a beautiful place you live in. It’s nice to have some background music. 🙂
It’s just a 1 bedroom old building. Built in the 50’s. But its in a very nice “rich” neighbourhood. Forest Hill. I’m rent contolled lol Lots of old trees 🙂 Listening to Spotify…
That sounds lovely. Just don’t look outside. 🙂
I can’t help it. LOL I really want to go out. BUT! 🤔
Lol yes, there is that 🙂
Are you making me the Butt of a joke? 😊
Well, I was going to say, “that’s a big BUT,” except I was afraid you might say exactly what you just said, so I guess it didn’t make a difference lol 😜
😂
Congratulations Cubby, your book is indeed an incredible piece going by what I have seen so far. I hope I get my kids soon so that I can adore them with your books for kids. Great job!
Thank you, Victor! I think you would have adorable kids. 🙂
Congratulations! Keep reaching for your dreams!
Thank you kindly! And I definitely will! 🙂
Congratulations. Pre-ordered for grandchildren. It looks really fun.
Aww thank you so much. I really hope they enjoy it. There’s nothing more that I want than for my books to make people smile, especially children. 🙂
Congratulations, Sonya! It looks great!
Thank you! I’m so happy you think so! 🙂
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO happy for you. Congratulations and then some. I’m thrilled and excited for you and the wonderful things you do. YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!
LOL you make my whiskers tremble with happiness. Thank you for your kind and generous words. 🙂
Congratulations! I’ll share with friends.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your support. 🙂
You are so multitalented, amazing!
You would be much less impressed if you saw me trying to open a jar hehe. 🙂
Lol. Somehow I highly doubt that. Your children’s book looks great, I will purchase a copy 💜.
Aww you are so sweet. Thank you so much. 🌸💚
In fact, I would probably ask you to open jars for me, I’d be so impressed with your jar opening…
Then we would be sitting on a mini-mountain of unopened jars.
And may be quite hungry 😂
Yes, indeedy! I’d have to eat my own whiskers. 😜
I’m pretty sure it was your cat whiskers that drew me to your posts before I’d ever read them. So, please don’t eat them, I will open tins for both of us 😘
🍽😃
Love it, congratulations.
Thank you, Andy! 🙂
This is wonderful! Count me in for a pre-order from B&N! I may not have kids, but I love a good children’s book. ❤
That is too kind of you! I just hope you are not disappointed by its simplicity.
What a great need. Congratulations. I am so so happy for you. Wish you a huge success ❤️❤️

Thank you so much for your support! If your grandson is between the ages of 4 to 8, the next book will be great for him. 🙂
Yup! He’s ready. 🙂 Thanks for the follow and back at you!
😊🌸
This is amazing work!!! I dont even know you personally and I’m so proud of you! Congratulations and I wish you all the best with the publishing, sales and financing.
I didn’t see a link for contributing. Do you have one?
Awww, that is so sweet of you. I only have links to my book, not a link for contributions. You have such a generous heart to even consider that option. I am touched by your words. 🙂
And I meant every word.
You’re welcome.
😊🌸💜
Yay! Congrats. The book is really cute. Love the artwork too.
Thank you very much! I’m so glad you think so! 🙂

Thank you so much for your warm words. I have pocketed them in my heart. 🙂
Congratulations Sonya. I wish you all the best.😊
Thank you so much! 😊💜
I wish I could do this! I know I could do it, but I do not know how to go about it… Does your site discuss this? Thank you for this darling post! Made me smile 😊
There are a lot of great sites out there that discuss how to self-publish, but my blog is not one of them. I recommend checking out this site: https://justpublishingadvice.com/how-to-publish-a-book-the-right-way-to-reach-more-readers/. You’ll find a wealth of information at this site if you look through it, more than I could ever give you. I’m glad you liked the post. 🙂
How sweet of you to provide me with a link. Thank you so much 😊Very kind of you.
My pleasure. I hope you find some useful information. 🙂
That book looks cute.love the coloring book too.
Thank you very much! 🙂
This is awesome! I will be purchasing. Great work!
Aww that is so sweet of you. Your support is very much appreciated! 😊💜
Congratulations. I will check it out, but looking very good.
Thank you! That would be greatly appreciated. 😊
How wonderful to get this done. I have the same aspiration and dream. I have written several children’s rhymes I would like to get illustrated and published. It’s wonderful to see someone complete the task.
There’s absolutely no reason why you can’t do it too! If you make it a priority, it will be done. 😉
Thank you. I shall try.
🌸👍
You had me at owning an ostrich, but you have a coloring book edition as well?! Congrats!
Aww, thank you so much! 😊💜
Wow, congratulations Cubby! I wanted to write children’s books too but gave up because it seemed too difficult to get published. Cool book!
Traditional publishing is a pain. You can’t even send your manuscript to most publishers without an agent, and then most agents won’t even take a look at your work without a spectacular cover letter. It’s much easier to self-publish, although it is a lot more work. You could definitely self-publish as well if you really want to pursue this. 🙂
I agree traditional publishing is not the way to go, I took an online course and wanted my $, (quit the course), very cool that you DIY. 🙂
Well, we’ll see how things pan out. 😉
Traditional publishing seems like it’s mostly about having connections, well good luck with your book🙂
Thank you very much! 🌸
Congratulations! It sounds very exciting. In my previous writing life I have had over 150 children’s poems published in magazines and anthologies. I post them from time to time. ‘Night Driver’ on BigBlueMouth was one. I don’t seem able to write them anymore. Will look for your book 🙂
That’s impressive! I would be happy with having just one, well maybe two, of my poems published in a magazine and/or anthology. I think you would be able to write more children’s poems if you really wanted to, but I know it is difficult to write anything if inspiration is lacking. Thank you so much for your kind words 🙂
thanks also for yours 🙂

You’re so welcome!🥰❤️💛💚
Congrats !!!
Many kind thanks! 🙂
My friend’s niece got her book today. Her mom said, “We got the book today. She loves it ❤ it’s perfect. Even more perfect right now because we’re working on rhyming. Thank you.”
Oh that’s wonderful! I am so happy to hear that. And relieved. Phew. Even one child enjoying it means a lot to me. Thank you so much for letting me know! 🙂
Congratulations! I have a nephew who will absolutely love this, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with him. 😁
Aww that is so sweet. I will be crossing my whiskers that he will enjoy it! 🙂
My friend’s niece got her book the other day. I thought I posted this, but I guess not. Her mom said, “We got the book today. She loves it ❤ it’s perfect. Even more perfect right now because we’re working on rhyming. Thank you.”
This is Nobbinmaug. Why’s this posting as anonymous? It says I’m logged in.
Oh, you are “Someone”? I have no idea what’s going on.
I didn’t think it posted the first time because you didn’t respond. I wanted to make sure you knew you had a little fan, so I posted again. Then I realized what happened. I still don’t know why.
Aww well I appreciate your efforts to let me know. Thank you. 🐾🐱🐉
Hmm, that’s strange. I thought I read it and responded to it. Not sure what happened. But I am so happy that your friend’s niece enjoyed the book. That really warms my heart. Thank you so much for letting me know and for your support. 🙂
I wanted to swing back here and let you know I received my copy of the book and it’s adorable! So well done! And I know just the perfect little boy to gift it to. 🙂
YAY!!! Oh that makes me so happy!
I tried to stick in some subtle and not-so-subtle facts about ostriches too:
1. Ostriches have no teeth.
2. They eat pebbles and sand to help them eat.
3. Ostriches can swim (this is really indirect and probably way too subtle.)
4. They use their wings to shield their young from the elements.
5. They really can see far away.
6. They can kick like kangaroos.
7. They apparently can roar like a lion.
8. They do have dinosaur-like feet, with two toes (although some pictures show three toes…kind of confusing).
9. And of course, they really can’t fly… yet.
If you don’t mind and have the time, I would very much appreciate a review for the book on the site you bought it from. I am having a really hard time getting reviews from people, but I understand that people have much more important things to do hehe. I’m just super happy you enjoyed it! And I am crossing my fingers that the little boy will enjoy it too! 🙂
I would be happy to! I know what a challenge it can be to get a written review from readers. I bought from B&N so I’ll swing by there tonight and leave a review.
Aww thank you so much! Your time and effort are very much appreciated. 😊🌸💜
I just saw the review at B&N and wanted to thank you so much for your lovely words. 💖✨🌹
Cool! Congrats! Hey, I’m looking at possibly publishing my stories using Kindle. May you please give me a general idea of the publishing/editing and such costs publishing my stories using Kindle?
This is from the KDP site:
“KDP prints your book on demand and subtracts your printing costs from your royalties. That means you don’t have to pay any costs upfront or carry any inventory.”
https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G201834340
I don’t know how much editing would cost as my children’s books are simple enough for me to edit myself.
From what I have read and experienced with Kindle, the real cost comes not from the publishing itself but from the marketing that comes afterward, which I lack the experience to tell you much about.
Please let me know when you have published your book! 🙂
So with publishing on Kindle, does the author do any editing themselves?
Thanks for the info.
Yeah, I guess the marketing would cost a lot of money.
Will do 🙂
As far as I know with publishing platforms like KDP, authors do all the editing themselves if they are self-publishing unless they hire someone to edit for them.
Ok, thanks.
I just have to give you an update on this book. The little man who received it loves it and his mother tells me that his new favorite phrase is “no cheetahs allowed!” So even though I liked it, it also passed the three year old boy test. 🙂
Thank you so much for letting me know! I am so happy he liked it. 😊🌸💜
