Midnight Magic

In the night while I was walking,
Brooding by myself and talking,
Almost did I fail to notice
Midnight’s magic blooming lotus.
Snow white petals softly gleaming,
Surely, I thought I was dreaming
Of a flower gently streaming,
Unfurling in the midnight air.

Even as I tried to declare
That my mind was perfectly square,
Two feet were rounded by the sight
Of flower blooming in the night.
I found that I was somehow standing
In the middle and commanding
Graceful petals, outward stranding,
Twirling in the midnight air.

Sweet joy now perched in every hair,
No longer rooted in despair,
Up in the breathless sky I flew
And bid the restless ground adieu,
And those who saw could feel it too –
The magic brewed in midnight air.

    1. I think it’s because there are a lot of “-ing” rhymes in this poem, as in “The Raven”. I am flattered that it would remind anyone of his work in any way. πŸ™‚

  32. You know this is beautiful, not because I say it is but the night says it is and the wind too whistles softly in good refreshing tunes as it sails through the night.

    1. I love how poetic your comments can be. Thank you for your lovely words. πŸ™‚

  33. Your words are a spell. An occult ready to be explored but a mystery. A splendor my friend

    1. The caster of the spell works the magic, not the words themselves, although I suppose there cannot be one without the other, so thank you for being such a beautiful caster. πŸ™‚

      1. You write so beautifully. I am always mesmerized 😊

    1. I didn’t have time for much else hehe. πŸ™‚

      1. There’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve considered digging out some old stuff. There are some that even I think are good.

        1. I would suggest you pick those over the ones you don’t think are as good.

          1. That would save time writing but wouldn’t have the same therapeutic properties.

            1. True. It’s a bit of a trade-off.

              1. It could also fill in the gaps on days I don’t have anything.
