WP Authors

As a new author, I have discovered what all indie authors before me have realized: how difficult it is to market a book.

Therefore, I would like to create a page on my blog called “WP Authors” that will showcase the books of other WordPress authors.

If anyone is interested in having their book(s) featured on this page, please send me the following details:
1. Book title
2. Author name
3. Link(s) to buy – I will pull the cover image from the store link
4. Brief book description – 100 words or less please. Less is more!
5. Author blog (or any WP blog)
6. Three random details about yourself
7. Other book(s) written by you with a link to buy (no image though) and/or book(s) that will be released this year.

I will be travelling for a week, so I will not have much time to spend on WP for the next little while, but I will try to work on this page as much as possible when I have time. Please give me up to 48 hours to post your book details.

Please, no erotica or anything you wouldn’t want your mother to know about.

To give you an example of what I would like a listing to look like:

Now Available at Amazon and Barnes & Nobe

Book description:
“I Want an Ostrich” is a charming picture book about a boy wanting an ostrich narrated in fun rhyming verses with eye-catching illustrations. The author collaborated closely with the illustrator to elevate simple rhymes into engaging scenes designed to captivate and encourage curiosity and exploration. Recommended for children ages 2 to 5. (This was 52 words.)

Author blog:
Sonya Annita Song (this is my official author blog but you can list any blog you want)

Three random details about Sonya Annita Song:
1. I have more stuffed animals now than I did when I was a kid.
2. I use shampoo twice instead of conditioner.
3. I tend to be somewhat of a hermit, although I would like to think I am a very friendly hermit.

Other books by Sonya Annita Song:
1. “My Teacher Dad” – estimated release April 2019
2. “Pirate Bear” – estimated release May 2019
3. “A Little Nutty” – estimated release June 2019 ______________________________________________________________________________

Lastly, for anyone who supports and buys a book from a WP author, please leave a review for them as reviews are so difficult to obtain but immensely helpful.

I really hope this page will help WP authors get the word out about their books and also allow readers to find some interesting new books to read! 😊

That’s a great idea and very kind of you to make a section in your blog for other authors. 😊

    1. I figured it is something I can do that will hopefully help out other author bloggers in some way. πŸ™‚

I hope so, so many amazing writers out there waiting to catch their break but get lost in the crowds.

        1. Agreed about the amazing writers! πŸ˜ŠπŸŒΈπŸ’–

  2. Hello from a fellow friendly hermit,
What a wonderful, generous, community-minded idea! I love it. I’ve been pondering publishing books myself but it is the thought of marketing that has been a major part of my procrastination, so far. Your book looks great, btw, if my niece or nephew where younger I’d have bought it.

    1. The marketing part is definitely much harder than the actual writing part, which is why it would be nice for WP authors to have a spot on my blog for others to check out. If and when you do publish your book, please drop me the details so that I can post them on my blog. πŸ™‚

      1. Will do! As I say it’s a great idea. πŸ™‚

        1. I’m glad you like it! 😊

Thank you also for the line, “Please, no erotica or anything you wouldn’t want your mother to know about.” It reminded me to strive to create stories I can be proud of; I never want to be ashamed of any of my writing.

And congratulations on “I Want an Ostrich.” It sounds like a very good story.

    1. It is a horrible feeling to be ashamed of one’s writing and a feeling I hope no writer has to bear for too long. Your stories are ones I think you can be very proud of. And thank you for your kind words about my book. πŸ˜ŠπŸ’œ

  16. Title: Where Dragons Follow by Susan Bass Marcus; kindle: https://www.amazon.com/Where-Dragons-Follow-Malevir-Dragonwolder-ebook/dp/B07BW3KCGB/ and paperback: https://www.amazon.com/Where-Dragons-Follow-Malevir-Dragonwolder/dp/1732143404/
    My WP blog: https://susanbassmarcus.net
Three random details: 1) I worked for nearly 20 years as a professional puppeteer and puppet sculptor, 2) I am mad for my two cats about whom I am posting a serialized novella on my blog, and 3) I love my husband of many, many decades
In 2015 I published my first novel, Malevir: Dragons Return, which had its origin in my oral storytelling and puppet theater work. Long a fan of dragons and other magical creatures, I began to craft the world of Dragonwolder and populate it with dragon clans, an enigmatic menace called the Malevir, many sprites, goblins, beleaguered humans, and a few giants. The writing process was arduous but rewarding; it resulted in the recent publication of a sequel, Where Dragons Follow: Return of the Malevir. I am proud of this latest work, a tight, driving narrative with a small cast of characters and a strong story line. My illustrations, including a map of Dragonwolder, boost the characters’ images and set the narrative’s tone.
Former museum professional and puppetry artist, Susan Bass Marcus writes essays on her WordPress blog β€˜AboutSusanMarcus’ and fiction. Where Dragons Follow, out 2018, is a sequel to the fantasy novel, Malevir: Dragons Return. Short stories in print and online, including “Kitchen Magic,” in Cloaked Press’ 2017 Fall into Fantasy and β€˜Just a Note Before I Go’ in Masques from Medusa’s Laugh Press. Her artwork and stories also have been published in The Weird Reader.

    1. Thank you for your details! I have posted the most relevant details to the “WP Authors” page at https://reowr.com/wp-authors/.

You may have noticed that I pulled the description of the book off of Amazon and did not include your other details on the page. I would like to include this information in the comments, so I would like you to make a comment on that page with that information. I will then link to your comment.

You will see that I posted your other details in the comments for you in the meantime, but I will remove that post when you post your own comment.

If you are dissatisfied with this arrangement, please let me know and I will try to think of an alternative solution!

      1. The Amazon page description is my recent update to that page via my Authors Page. Will that work or should I do something else?

        1. I think it works really well! It is very intriguing, and I think it will appeal to fantasy readers.

          1. Glad to hear it. All set, then? If so, thanks so much.

            1. Take a look: https://reowr.com/wp-authors/.

As long as you are happy with that, we are good. I will leave my comment on that page with your details until you replace it with your own (if you choose to). πŸ™‚

              1. Were you planning to include purchasing links?

              2. oops, it’s under the book cover photo. Missed it. Thanks again.

                1. I added a few more links so that there are more chances to click on them. πŸ™‚

                  1. So nice. Adds a plus to my day.

                    1. I’m glad. 😊🌸

  21. It’s such an amazing idea to support others! Does the book have to be official and professional though?

    1. As long as it is a book that you have for sale somewhere online, you’re a WP author, and there is no explicit content, I don’t see why it shouldn’t be listed.

      1. I’m just seeing this now – I will leave my info (hope it isn’t too late!)

  25. Hi, what a great and valuable idea. I’m in a difficult position: the author of 12 natural history books (some under another name – long story) mainstream published, and I’ve just finished the third of a trilogy of pan-generational / inter-generational(?) children’s adventure books involving the same family of children who do things their way and as a result encounter some mysterious ‘super-natural’ forces. They are ‘alternative’ and pretty dark green but not without humour. The first is available on Amazon (https://tinyurl.com/yd6onv64) but the other two I’ve done nothing with apart from giving them to respected people to read. Would you want details of all three?!! Maybe discussed as a trilogy. They are full-length novels, set in different seasons: two on a magical island and one in the Lake District – two based on actual events. Good luck in your great endeavour and to all those ‘amazing authors’ out there who suffer from not being celebrities in some other field! Sorry if this is already too long. http://www.richardmeyer.co.uk.

    1. If you would like to publicize your work as a trilogy, then I can post the details for all three books discussed as a trilogy. As for your natural history books, I can post those together under your other name if you so desire.

  26. Such a marvelous idea! Do you mind if I “steal it” for my blog as well? I really love the idea, and we need to stick together! Not to mention what a wonderful way to find other hard working authors!

    1. By all means, please do! The more the merrier. πŸ™‚

      1. I hope to get a page created by the end of the weekend! I also stream writing on Twitch every Tuesday and Thurs, and I am thinking that would be a great place to share this too!

        1. That’s a wonderful idea! I am clueless when it comes to other forms of social media, so I think it’s awesome that you can do things like that. πŸ™‚

          1. Lolol, I am too! It’s been a learning experience, that’s for sure! But sooo worth it! The small writing community there is incredible! I am RavynWhyt on twitch as well if you, or anyone is interested in online “live” write-ins! It is a great time!

            1. Thank you very much! Once things have settled down a little, I will check it out. πŸ™‚

  27. This is a wonderful and generous idea! I’ll be leaving another comment soon with my info. Thank you so much!

    1. I will be looking forward to it! πŸ™‚

Thank you for this opportunity, and most especially, thank you for all the content you share. It really is high level work, and I always look forward to seeing your posts.

    1. I am more than happy to offer a spot on my blog to WP authors to help them gain some exposure. You can write your details here in the comments or you can email me the details at sonyasong@hotmail.com. And thank you so much for enjoying what I have to offer. 😊
