There Will Be Blood

I loved you once upon a time,
I think that’s how the story goes,
But then you broke my heart in two
And so I bloodied up your nose.
You looked so shocked to see the blood,
I think you thought that I would plead,
But no, this way at least I’d know
My heart was not alone to bleed.

Is red still the color of love?

    1. Cubby's avatar

It seems to be the color of choice.

    That is so clever

LOL! Oh you are too much! So funny!

    1. Cubby's avatar

Ah, so glad at least one person laughed. I think I’ve scared away all the male readers though. πŸ˜€

I loved it and shared it on facebook…too funny not to! Sorry guys!

Glad you found it amusing! πŸ™‚

…..I get the drift cubby πŸ˜‰

Aww, I couldn’t hurt a fly…mainly cuz they’re too fast for me to catch…but really, I am actually a very gentle person with ever so slight passive-aggressive tendencies.

        hahahahahah if u insist πŸ˜‰

Remind me never to get in an argument with you.

    1. Cubby's avatar

Now, now, I don’t really bloody people’s noses. I may, however, bite and scratch a little, but that kind of thing is just part of your daily routine.

It is when you own a kitten as mental as the one I own.

Cute! Can’t really relate, though…most of my relationships died a timely death. The one time my heart was “broken” the boy turned out to be a real jerk (tried to get back with me the day before his wedding to the girl he had made up with when he left me.) and I was better off! Besides….I’m a pacifist.

    1. Cubby's avatar

So am I. This was pure fiction, as most of my writing is. Just a twist on the usual heartbreak poems. πŸ™‚

Way to go give the sucker his due! πŸ™‚

    1. Cubby's avatar

      Merely poetic justice. πŸ˜‰

  9. hitandrun1964's avatar

How purrrfect is THAT! Red is the color of whatever is going on at the time and I love the poem.

    1. Cubby's avatar

Why is aquamarine never the “going on” color? Who decides these things?

I kind of feel bad for laughing…
Wait, Im not the only one?! Ok, so I dont feel completely bad=D Great post!

    1. Cubby's avatar

Hehe, no you’re not the only one. It wasn’t meant to be taken seriously. πŸ™‚

Ah Cubby kitty shouldn’t go about bloodying noses…there’s better ways to use your paws…and maybe knees! But I’m not sure that’d work in a poem…

    1. Cubby's avatar

Ah yes, you are right of course. I should have wet my paws with water, played around in my litter box, and then walked all over his face. I don’t know which version people would have found more off-putting.

      1. Georgia's avatar

This certainly would have been very funny! And people do have peculiar tastes…they usually prefer to seen weeping damsels for some reason, sighing perhaps, a tear running down their cheek in romantic rhyme…better a walk on the wild side in my opinion!

So poetic and direct. Love it! Reminds me of a story I read about Adele punching a boyfriend in the face because he cheated. Afterwards, she wrote her song “Chasing Pavements.” … Lol, that could be totally false, but I read it somewhere.

    1. Cubby's avatar

Huh, I will now have to look up the lyrics for that song…and then listen to the song. I am really out of the loop when it comes to music. Is Rollin in the Deep still in the charts?

      1. Chelseamcatt's avatar

I know it’s still played quite a bit. Don’t know if it’s “in the charts” or not.

        1. Cubby's avatar

Well, now I don’t feel too bad. πŸ˜‰

  13. gullhasnat's avatar

oh my god, I laughed and smiled and grinned all at the same time. If you get the image.
It started off so meek, but the blood added a punch to it. πŸ˜‰

    1. Cubby's avatar

Lol, it sure did. πŸ˜› Glad it made you make funny faces. πŸ˜€

      1. gullhasnat's avatar

        I am glad too! πŸ˜‰

    1. Cubby's avatar

Purely fictional, I assure you. Not exactly an eye for an eye though considering an average nosebleed lasts 5 to 20 minutes whereas a heartbreak can last for years.

  14. Himz's avatar

Not cute for me but its relatable. The line that says not only I should bleed was perfect. Why should u only suffer…lol. nice little poem…meaningful.

    1. Cubby's avatar

I find it interesting to get such different reactions from people, such as “nice little poem” and “nasty little poem” right after each other. I’m glad you found the poem meaningful. πŸ™‚

      1. Himz's avatar

Thats the beauty of these lines…everyone relates it differently. ..:) you are lucky you’ve got such a huge fan following that people stop to read, relate and comment :-).

        1. Cubby's avatar

Yes, my readers are generous with their time and comments, for which I am grateful and humbled.
