Lover’s Knot

When it’s bought
It will rot
With a plot
That is fraught
With distraught,
Turn to naught.
But when caught
With pure thought
It will trot
Like it ought
When it’s taught
And then brought,
Not forgot
When it’s sought.

The Scottish psychiatrist? I suppose I would make a rather interesting patient. I wonder what kind mental illnesses a cat can have.

Not sure he’s Scottish, but he is (or was) a psychiatrist, he wroote a book called “Knots” back in 1970…your poem reminded me of it.

Crackle! Pop! Now I want a Rice Krispies square.

I know, I may just have to make some. They look relatively easy enough to make…butter, marshmallows, and Rice Krispies cereal. Even I shouldn’t be able to screw that up.

Taught like having learned, not taut like tense or pulled tight. Based on the idea that we have to be taught how to express our love in order for others to receive it.

Actually I meant taut as in full of energy.

Ah, I think that’s like the 4th definition in the dictionary. Emotionally or mentally strained is above it.

How whimsical! I am now ready for work with all this fun stuff!

Whimsy goes good with a cup of coffee.

Glad you like this! The thing that caught my eye about your poem was how beautifully it was shaped, and the content, to my delight, was just as beautiful.

Thank you very much. I followed you, btw, and am looking forward to reading more of your writing soon.

        Blessed day!

P.S. Love the avatar. Cats and literature are the best.

    Cubby,
Following you leads to some interesting places. Thank you.

Which is funny as I rarely leave home. Thank you for reading. 🙂

The mental illness cat’s have is pure narcissism! I am NOT saying you have this!! Loved this piece, clever rhyming and play on meanings. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, cats definitely are narcissistic, but this is their baseline personality. I would be more worried if a cat started bringing me slippers and actually did as it was told. 😀
