The Most Beautiful Word

The most beautiful word
In the world is not love,
Nor is it halcyon or hope,
And neither exemption nor blessed redemption
Falls into the breadth of its scope.

While words may have beauty
And susurrous charm,
Ineffable eloquence too,
And though mellifluous, they’re still superfluous;
Their arms cannot carry you through

All the walls that divide,
All the borders that hate,
All the ignorant eyes that can’t see;
The most beautiful word that could ever be heard
Is not “you” nor “I”, it is “we”.

Yes! But to be ‘we,’ you have to Love! Yourself and those outside your self!

    1. Cubby's avatar

Lol of course the most beautiful word is also subjective. And “we”, in my opinion, also encompasses love for all, including ourselves. 🙂

And the Ferris wheel goes round and round!

        1. Cubby's avatar

And I mean “we” in the most universal sense, “we” as humanity, not as in “we” against “them”.

And that’s what Ferris wheels are for. 🙂

A much needed reminder in this troubled world. Beautiful words, Cubby, but will the “Me Generation”and a certain megalomaniac understand?

    1. Cubby's avatar

There is more hope for the “Me Generation” than there is for that megalomaniac. The “Me’s” just have to be turned upside down, whereas that megalomaniac needs…well, psychiatric help would be at the top of the list imo.

For in we, we gather from far and never taking sides while going forward together, when the cold winds blow together it will show that we can face any kind of weather.

    1. Cubby's avatar

That’s beautiful. And exactly the kind of “we” my words had in mind. 🙂

Reminds me of Mohammed Ali’s poem “Me, We”. This is brilliant

    1. Cubby's avatar

Ah if only I could be so succinct. And it rhymes perfectly too. 🙂

Lovely poem. I must tell you that some years ago the most beautiful word in my language, Slovenian, was announced and it was “midva” which means we but only for two people. Slovenian is one of the rare languages with dual case. Midva = you and me. 🙂

    1. Cubby's avatar

That’s fascinating. The Slovenian language seems to have a logical basis. Thank you for sharing. 🙂

Hello, i started my blog quite sometime ago and I’ve been trying to see how this works, and how can you engage with the community for likes and comments and all of that stuff, if there’s no problem could you help me with that?

        1. Cubby's avatar

I find that offering challenges helps to engage people. You can also participate in other bloggers’ challenges for more exposure. Reading and leaving feedback for others is also a kind gesture that may be reciprocated.

My sister wanted me to write a children’s version of this, and even though I tried to explain to her that much of the essence would be lost, she insisted until I relented.

This is the children’s version I’ll be posting on my children’s site tomorrow:

      The most beautiful word
In the world is not love,
Nor is it fantastic or hope,
And neither does hello nor pretty nor rainbow
Jump into the length of its rope.

      While words may have beauty
      And sugary charm
      Like laughter and happiness too,
And though they are lovely like sunny and bubbly,
Their arms cannot carry you through

      All the walls that divide,
All the storm clouds that chase,
      All the ignorant eyes that can’t see;
The most beautiful word that could ever be heard
Is not “you” or “I”, it is “we”.

She wants me to turn it into a children’s book. I just rolled my eyes at her.

      1. Nobbinmaug's avatar

        It’s not “we,” it’s “wee!”

Isn’t it funny that people always think they know what we should write? “I have this idea. You should write it.” Somebody told me I should write a children’s book about stick figures. I’m playing.

        1. Cubby's avatar

Suggesting lightly and browbeating are two very different things. 🤪

          1. Nobbinmaug's avatar

That’s true, and I appreciate the idea. It’s funny, how it’s progressed. My thought was, “That’s funny. I should make that into a joke.” You went with, “That would make a good children’s book.” The more we talk about it, the more I want to do it. Are you sure you don’t want to help? It could be fun? We could have a stick figure competition.

How do we have these conversations that span so many different posts? Anyone who reads one or two will be confused. There’s no way they could follow along.

            1. Cubby's avatar

It does sound like it would be fun, but I am horrible at collaborations. With my obsessive-compulsive tendencies, I would either want full control or end up not caring very much. I have never been good at moderation.

It would be interesting if anyone actually wanted to follow our conversations. 🙂

              1. Nobbinmaug's avatar

I sit on both sides of collaborations. I mentioned my adult novel on a different thread. 🙂 I wrote it with my friend. She used to work in an OBGYN. She gave me stories, protocol and medical details, and I wrote it. In cases like that, it drives me and keeps me focused. I also have the OCD issues with creative differences and control. I get it.

I’ve started some notes. I think it’s going to be gangsta. I’m calling it Sticc Figgaz. That’s a joke. I do have notes, though.

                1. Cubby's avatar

Lol at the Sticc Figgaz. I love how creative you are. 🙂

                  1. Nobbinmaug's avatar

Thank you. I love to be creative. I need to be creative. It’s nice to have it appreciated. I’m an admirer of your creativity, as well.
