You are not “lazy”;
You prioritize leisure
By trading in duties
For sweet guilty pleasure.
Not innate at all
Like many would claim,
“That’s just who I am,”
And that’s quite a shame
As it disempowers;
It’s a convenient excuse,
A word used to judge
And a tool to refuse.
Kids attribute labels
Right down to their cores,
So please don’t say “lazy”
For not doing chores.
It’s not really a trait;
You may soon recognize,
It’s chosen behavior
To prioritize.

Priorities ARE extremely important! Well put my friend π
It’s the reason for all of our unforced actions. π
My priorities are forces to be reckond with lol and you’re one of them. No time for clean-up! I’m a Cubbonite! π
Ooo nice word! Can I be a Cubbonite too?
Of Course! Its a growing group! We’ll have t-shirts soon LOL
Lol I feel like you would be a very good marketer π
Well I was in the Entertainment Industry for over 25 years. LOL
Wow, that’s amazing! Sounds fascinating. π
Yet another Epic! Tons of grist LOL Some of the people I wrote about were a big part of it. It was the mid 70’s and the Film Industry was taking off in Toronto. I walked into it. OH! I have a start! Thanks π π€

Lol
Lol
π
I’m not lazy, I’m just efficient, why waste all that extra effort?
ECHO ECHO
Lol agreed π
I LOVE this! From now on, I’m prioritizing my leisure!
You seem to completely understand what I was trying to say, which is rare in terms of this particular word. I believe it can be very empowering to take the word “lazy” out of one’s vocabulary and exchange it with “prioritizing.” And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with prioritizing leisure, as long as you realize that is exactly what you are doing. π
π
Truth! Very well written… prioritized!
I believe it to be true, although some people have argued with me on this point hehe. One of those “Then why is it a word in the dictionary?” kind of arguments.
So very true.
I’m glad you think so! π
I work with kids. Theyβd really relate! Not that adults donβt too π
I think it’s important for children not to internalize negative labels, and I think “lazy” is a very negative label that kids can easily internalize. Thank you for your kind words. π
Agree!!
Very good poem!
Thank you! I’m glad you think so. π
Brilliant
You are too kind. I don’t think everyone really understood the meaning of my words, but I’m glad some people did. For those who didn’t understand, the fault lies in my lack of clarity.
YES Cubby! Fantastic!
I’m so glad you understand! Thank you! π
Love the rhythm to these wise words!
I am smiling – an acquired trait to enjoy this thing called life – ππβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Absolutely! Smiling makes the world a better place, one smile at a time. ππ
True my friend. Thank you for sharing smiles

Iβm trying to remind myself that none of my pleasures are guilty! Love this, Sonya.
When you realize that everything you do is a result of prioritizing one thing over another, it is easy to take the guilt out of “guilty pleasures” and just enjoy the pleasures. You’re not being lazy. π
Yes, I agree!!
Love this!!!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed this. π
Just right!!!

Prioritise leisure – interesting!
Absolutely! And there’s nothing wrong with prioritizing leisure either. π
Wow! ππΌππΌ
Glad you liked it! π
Well done and an Interesting thought. Not doing chores can be a product of a lazy parent unwilling to discipline and teach the young how to do what needs to be done. And that has created a generation that feels entitled without applying themselves.
A lazy parent can be viewed as a parent who prioritizes non-parenting-related activities over the duties of parenthood. Everything we do freely is because we prioritize a particular action at that particular moment. As for the “entitled” generation, they have time to grow and mature.
One can hope they will. Lol.
I resonate
I’m happy it resonated with you! π
This one was for me! π
Wonderful!
Iβm not lazy, Iβm choosing what to do and when! π€£ππ€ͺ
Exactly! You are not lazy at all! You just have different priorities π
The priority to relax, enjoy life and feel fine. π
And sometime do the dishes… π€ͺ
Lol yes, sometimes do the dishes π
Words of wisdom, Cubby! Taking time out for yourself is something that we all need in today’s fast paced life. There’s nothing “lazy” about giving yourself some much needed hours or even days of relaxation. I think it actually increases productivity.
That’s exactly what I’m talking about! Too many people associate taking leisure time as being “lazy.” It’s all about priorities. π
Yes, I absolutely agree π
I’m so glad you agree! I’ve tried to explain this concept to friends and family, but I got the “you are so weird” look from them lol.
Right on Cubby! I love this poem.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. π
Glad you took the stigma away from “laziness”π
It’s the whole word I want to redefine. It drives me crazy when people use it as an excuse like it’s some inherent trait that they are born with. “Laziness” is not a personality trait!
I prefer the word loungey, to describe my kind of laziness π
Now that’s a cool word! I totally dig it. ππ
π
Love it!
I’m so glad you do! Thank you! π
Oh ye of the 8-hour naps. Does that count as prioritizing leisure? What’s it called when something is a priority, but other things distract me? I would like to call it mutitasking, but it seems like no task is actually being accomplished.
Multitasking is simply shifting your attention from one task to another, so whatever you choose to do at any particular moment is because you are making it a priority.
Then, I’m currently prioritizing being a couch for little dogs.
Yup. That’s exactly what it is. π
Cubby this is excellent, so true and beautifully laid out poetically.
Just lovely… I love the idea of
T-Shirts πΊ

I’m so glad you think so about the poem!
I don’t think I’m ready yet for the t-shirts. π
Were in the moment, now! There is more, Embrace the Future!
A beautifully designed Journal with those words would be perfect too! You Dream It!
