One of Those Mornings (Terza Rima Sonnet)

I was rudely awoken this morning
By a banana shoved into my face.
A monkey was giving me a warning

Chittering loudly enough to erase
The last tail of my sweet morning slumber.
I gave up; I had a monkey to chase,

When a penguin came with a cucumber
And started whacking away at my head.
I thought surely this meant that my number

Had just been called and that I was now dead.
But on pinching my arm to confirm that,
With both a penguin and monkey in bed,

I hissed once in pain, then twice at a cat
Now knitting mittens while pricking my feet,
But worse, I found, was the tap dancing rat

Who tapped my stomach to a hip hop beat.
And don’t ask about the hippo named Pete.

Lol not everyone’s cup of tea but that’s okay as long as someone could get a laugh out of it. 🙂

This sounds Seussical. I love it. It’s much better than my wake up. I had an alarm and a dog whining to get out.

Lol well an alarm and dog doesn’t sound too bad…

No. It’s more the dark and cold that get to me.
