Upon the Cresting Waves

Upon the cresting waves I glide
And past a gilded harvest moon,
Into the night I gently fall
Now cradled in a wooden spoon;
Into a warm embrace I sink
With haloes from a dying sun
As faeries catch me with their wings
Of rainbow silk just newly spun;
And as they carry me beyond,
They stroke my head and softly sing,

“Your sorrows we will chase away
And paradise to you we’ll bring.
Come stay with us and you’ll be free
To dance upon the glistening stars
And drink from moonlight clear and sweet
And fill your happiness in jars.
Hark, listen to our joyous song
And we will guide you on your way
Into the forest of your dreams
Where geese are wild and spirits play.”

    This is…lovely! If only it is half as wonderous as this…

    Nice piece!

    Nice remembrance Sonja. I was just reading about her. The article quoted a part of her piece
    WHEN DEATH COMES.

    “When it’s over, I want to say all my life

    I was a bride married to amazement.

    I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.

    When it’s over, I don’t want to wonder

    if I have made of my life something particular, and real.

    I don’t want to find myself sighing and frightened,

    or full of argument.

    I don’t want to end up simply having visited this world.”

    Beautiful tribute Sonja. ❀

      She was an amazing writer with a remarkable way of looking at the world. Love the quote you chose. πŸ™‚

        What I read of hers reminded me of you. ❀ All I’m seeing tonight is unhappiness. I slept for awhile. FB seemed filled with ppl passing. I’m glad you messaged me. I needed a friendly “Voice” 🌼

          There are nights of sorrow, but there will be days of joy. I think a lot of Canadians suffer from some degree of SAD (seasonal affective disorder) due to our ridiculously long winters and lack of sun. When I am feeling blue, getting any kind of sun is nice, so I like to sit by a nice sunny window and bask in the gentle warmth. I hope you are feeling better tomorrow. If not, try sitting somewhere sunny. πŸ™‚

    Had I not read the R.I.P. at the end I would have assumed that this was about slipping off into sleep, a very pleasant dream. Sorry for your loss. I do hope we all find the end as beautiful and comforting as your write.

      It is not so much my loss as the world’s. I have not read a lot of her poetry, but what I did read was impressive.
